Week 1: Bunnings Warehouse

Bunnings Warehouse -a clear view of the overall building
I visited the Bunnings Warehouse in Waurn Ponds. The building is a single-level commercial building. The interior of the warehouse shows the use of steel portal frame that creates a long span structure. Portal frame - is a continuous rigid frame with a restrained joint between the column and beam.

Steel portal frame with a rigid connection at apex
The element that I have chosen is the apex of the portal frame. This is because the apex plays an important role in supporting and distributing the load.
The detail of the apex
In a closer view of the apex, we can see the connections between the two steel members. Also, how it is connected with the use of bolts.
